Insurance for a Zoo Bar

So we’ve been thinking about this whole zoo bar thing, and we think that one of the only potential problems is that the zoo animals become jealous of the humans and their availability of tasty beers and other beverages.

Another problem of course is that patrons could suffer injuries as a result of their drinking at the zoo bar, especially if they happen to find their way into the lion enclosure or some other blood thirsty beast.

Despite these potential risks, like most risks they can be covered by insurance.  With the right public liability insurance in place the zoos should feel pretty safe about having public bars on their grounds.

Of course the public liability insurance cost will not be cheap, but I’m sure the insurance companies can be persuaded by free drinks and prime tables at Australia’s first ever zoo bar!

If you run an insurance company that provides public liability insurance, we urge you to consider developing a policy suitable for zoo bars.  You will be doing your country a huge favour.

Bear Drinking Beer

We’re the first to admit that an open bar in a zoo could cause trouble.

Certainly no one wants to see scenes like this.  Or do they…

bear drinking beerYes a zoo bar could be dangerous, but we believe they can work provided that everything is done correctly.

Update

Well it’s fair to say that we’re not having much luck on convincing the zoos to install bars on their grounds.

I mean, surely they can see that people would love to have a drink or five with their mates whilst watching a bunch of moneys fool around?

We know that there are zoos with bar facilities, but these are more so for corporate events or dining out etc.  What we want are bars with direct viewing access of the animals!

The revenue generated by these bars could be used by the zoos to acquire more amazing animals for us to look at.

We have asked the question before and we will keep asking it – why can’t we have a zoo bar?

Until next time…

Zoos in Australia that don’t have a bar

It is true that most zoos in Australia don’t have a bar or anywhere that you can buy an alcoholic beverage during normal working ours.

Taronga Zoo in Sydney does have a function centre, but we’re pretty sure you can’t just rock up and have a beer whilst your kids are checking out the giraffes.

The Melbourne Zoo also has venue hire, and the map of the zoo shows two areas with cocktail glass icons, but again we’re pretty sure you can’t sit back at the bar for a session with your mates on a Wednesday afternoon.

So what other Australian zoos have a bar?  We mean ones that you can just have a beer during normal opening hours, not this catering business.

Have you ever been at the zoo and thought “man I could do with a beer!”

Well so have we!

That’s how we can up with the idea for the Zoo Bar.  Our aim is to introduce bars into zoos all over Australia and the world.

We’re not for a moment suggesting that people should go to the zoo to get drunk, but what’s wrong with having an ice cold beer whilst visiting the zoo with your family?

What’s wrong with getting your mates together for a few drinks down at the zoo?  There is plenty to see, and what could be better than laughing at those crazy monkeys after downing a couple of Jagger Bombs?!

At this stage we are still in the planning stages, but if you support our idea for zoo bars or would like a zoo bar in your local zoo, them please get in touch with us.
